Ellen Alice Ternent was born in 1869 in Dunedin – the daughter of Andrew Ternent, a storeman, and Isabella Irvine. (See 83 Isabella Ternent)
When Ellen signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Dundas Street working as a dressmaker.
She married David Sutherland Munro, an accountant, on 26 December 1899 at her home in Dundas Street and they had one daughter.
David died in 1912 – he is buried in the Northern Cemetery.
Ellen died at her daughter’s home in Mosgiel on 1 January 1936 – she is buried in the East Taieri Cemetery.
