Elizabeth Evans was born in 1866 in Durham, England – the daughter of coal miner James Evans and Alice Williams.
She emigrated to New Zealand in 1884 on the Coptic accompanied by her 3 sisters. (See 246 A Raine)
Her parents and other siblings also emigrated and they settled near Greymouth.
Elizabeth married miner, James Colin Williamson in 1889 and they had seven children.
Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition at Taylorville.
Shortly after this the family moved to Ashurst in the Manawatū where they took up farming.
Elizabeth died on 30 January 1937 and James died in 1946 – they are buried in the Ashurst Cemetery.
