Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.
Elizabeth McQueen was born about 1830 in Wigtown, Scotland – the daughter of Alexander McQueen, a farmer, and Jane Dalrymple.
Elizabeth did not marry and after her mother’s death in 1884 she emigrated to New Zealand where most of her siblings had settled.
When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition she was living at Knapdale, north of Gore.
She was possibly living with her brother John and his family. (See 123 Catherine F H McQueen)
She later went to live at Invercargill where she died on 8 November 1904 – she is buried with her brother and sister in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
