Emily Horne was born in 1857 in Cambridgeshire, England – the daughter of James Horne and Susanna Yates.

She emigrated to New Zealand and she married Alexander MacKay on December 24th 1878 at St Paul’s Church, Dunedin.

They had 3 children and when Emily signed the suffrage petition they were living in Park Street.

Alexander died in 1910 and Emily re-married in 1912 to Thomas Seddon, a widower and engineer.

Thomas died in 1931, he is buried with his family in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.

Emily died on September 23rd 1934, she is buried with Alexander in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
