Emily Conlan was born on 13 November 1844 in Hobart, Tasmania – the daughter of Dominick Conlan and Mary Ann.
Emily came to New Zealand where she married Abraham Richardson, a farmer, in 1863.
They had 11 children and when Emily signed the suffrage petition the family were farming at Chatton, north of Gore.
Emily’s sister Mary also signed the petition. (See 123 Mary Ann Richardson)
Emily died at her home on 9 December 1894 and Abraham died in 1897 – they are buried together in the Gore Cemetery.
