Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Ann Forbes Calder was born in 1868 in Riverton, Southland – the daughter of James Calder, a waggoner, and Ann McDonald. (See 341 A Calder)

Ann grew up in Riverton – her family moved to Bluff in 1891 where she signed the suffrage petition.

Ann married Thomas Anderson, a baker, in 1893 and they had three children.

The family moved from Bluff to Temuka in 1909 and then to Feilding in 1913.

Ann died on 5 December 1960 at Palmerston North and Thomas died the following year, they are buried together in the Kelvin Grove Cemetery.
