Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.

Flora Currie Robertson was born about 1832 in Buteshire, Scotland – the daughter of Neil Robertson, an inn keeper, and Flora Currie.

She married James Macnee, a general merchant, on 17 March 1858 in Kilmory, Buteshire.

After their marriage they spent some time in Indiana, USA where their eldest child was born in 1860.

They returned to Scotland where they had a further seven children (see 47 J. Macnee), two who died in infancy.

James died in 1891 and soon after the family emigrated to New Zealand.

When Flora signed the suffrage petition she was living in Moray Place, Dunedin.

She later went to live at Pukerau in South Otago near her family where she died on 12 October 1897 – she is buried in the Pukerau Cemetery.
