Janet Nicol Macnee was born on 12 January 1866 in Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire, Scotland – the daughter of James Macnee, a general merchant, and Flora Currie Robertson. (See 47 F Macnee)
After her father died in 1891 she emigrated to New Zealand with her family and settled in Dunedin.
When Janet signed the suffrage petition she was living with her mother in Moray Place working as a dressmaker.
Janet died in Dunedin on 16 January 1958 – she is buried with her brother in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
