Adeline Fanny Sears was born about 1869 in New Zealand – the daughter of George (Tom) Sears, a coach driver, and Mellony Halls. (See 63 Mellony Sears)

When she signed the suffrage petition Adeline was living with her family in William St, Roslyn working as a retoucher.

She married John Bertie Hayward, a warehouseman, in 1899, they had no children.

Adeline died at her home in Christchurch on 2 August 1909, she is buried in the Linwood Cemetery.

John re-married in 1912, he moved back to Dunedin and he died in 1939. He is buried with his family in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.

Adeline Fanny and John Bertie Hayward had four children.
Hilda Louise born in 1902. She married Benjamin James Evans in 1925.
Adelaide born in 1904.
Theodore Hugh born in 1905.
Herbert John born in 1906.

Adeline Fanny Sears was baptized 29th September 1868 at Littleham parish church ,Exmouth, Devon, England. The daughter of George and Mellony Sears, living in Exmouth.
