Fanny Matilda Allured was born in 1854 in Shoreditch, London the daughter of Samuel Allured, a baker, and Eliza Bentley.
She married, grocer, Thomas Arthur in 1876 and they had a son before they emigrated to New Zealand about 1881.
They settled in Dunedin where they had a further five children.
When Fanny signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Opoho Road.
Shortly after Fanny and her sister in law Helen (See 93 Helen Arthur) were running the Calton Store in North East Valley.
Thomas died in 1901 after a severe asthma attack at his work in a grocer’s store in George Street.
Fanny died at her home on 25 April 1927 – she is buried with Thomas in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
