Georgina Elizabeth Abernethy nee Shorland (1859-1906). Wife of Wesleyan minister Rev Christopher Abernethy (1845-1927) who was stationed at Gore Wesleyan Church.

Georgina Elizabeth Shorland was born in 1859 in Auckland – the daughter of John Shorland, a carpenter, and Mary Elizabeth Olive. (See 127 M E Shorland)
She married Christopher Abernethy, a Wesleyan minister, on 10 April 1883 at the Wesleyan Church in Pitt St, Auckland.
They lived in Hokitika, Balclutha and Gore where Georgina signed the suffrage petition.
They had four children – two of their sons died fighting in WW1.
Georgina died on 6 July 1906 in Christchurch and Christopher died in 1927 – they are buried together in the Linwood Cemetery.
