Gertrude Annie CANNELL was born on 29 April 1866 at New Plymouth. She was one of 14 or 15 children born to Rev. William Douglas CANNELL and Sarah Anne (Annie) née GEORGE. Gertrude never married. She appears as "Spinster" on Electoral Rolls. Gertrude died at New Plymouth on 24 October 1949. She is buried at Te Henui Cemetery, New Plymouth.
