Grace Dickson Spears was born in 1866 in New Zealand – the daughter of Anthony Grant, a grocer, and Sarah Scott Dickson. (See 94 Sarah Grant)
She married Charles William Henry Spears, a tailor, in 1890 and they had two sons.
When Grace signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Halfway Bush, Dunedin.
They later moved to George St where Charles died in 1936.
Grace died on 9 June 1955, they are buried with Charles’ parents in the Northern Cemetery.
