Helen McDougall was born in 1869 in New Zealand, the daughter of William McDougall, a blacksmith, and Sarah Reid.
Helen did not marry and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Waikouaiti.
She died at Waikouaiti on October 12th 1950. She is buried in the family grave in the Waikouaiti Cemetery.
