Helen Justice was born on February 2nd 1841 in Leuchars, Fife, Scotland, the daughter of James Justice and Mary Grant.
She emigrated to Otago in 1861 with her widowed mother and siblings on the Lady Egidia. She married Charles Robertson Fell, a butcher, on July 8th 1861 in Dunedin.
They had nine children and lived in Waikouaiti where Helen signed the suffrage petition.
Charles died in 1908 and Helen died at her home on January 27th 1923.
They are buried in the family grave in the Waikouaiti Cemetery.
