Biography details contributed by Katherine Blakeley and Anna L. Muir

Isabella Greig was born in New Zealand in 1871, the daughter of David Greig and Isabella Harvey.

When she signed the suffrage petition, Isabella was living with her family in South Dunedin working as a dressmaker. Her mother, Isabella, and sister, Maggie, also signed the petition.

Isabella later worked as a waitress.

She married Alexander Strachan Stewart in 1901. Their only child, Alexander Harvey Stewart (known as Harvey), was born in 1902. Harvey married Edith Isabel Muirhead, youngest daughter of David and Isabella of 47 Clyde Street, at the First Church on 11 August 1926. They had two children. Edith died suddenly in Clyde on 18 November 1927, aged 27.

Alexander Snr died in 1945, aged 76. Isabella passed away five years later on 2 December 1950. They are buried in Andersons Bay Cemetery.
