Isabella Lockhart was born on 17 March 1871 in Fife, Scotland – the daughter of Daniel Lockhart, a brickmaker, and Jane Matthew. (See 105 Jane Lockhart)
The family emigrated to Otago in 1876 on the “Oamaru” and they settled in Dunedin. When Isabella signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Mornington.
She married August Magnus, a miner from Sweden, in 1893.
They had five children – the last two were twins, one of who was stillborn.
Two weeks after their birth, on 9 April 1902, Isabella died at Roxburgh – she is buried in the Roxburgh Cemetery.
August died in Alexandra in 1954 – he is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery, Dunedin.
