Jane Bennett was born about 1869. She was the adopted daughter of James Farquharson and Isabella Gordon. (See 299 Isabella Farquharson)
She married Alexander Galloway, a labourer, on 29 December 1890 at the Enfield Presbyterian Church and they had five children.
When Jane signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Ngapara in North Otago.
Alexander died in 1934 in Oamaru and Jane died on 9 November 1934 at her daughter’s home in Oamaru, they are buried together in the Old Oamaru Cemetery.
