Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Janet Drew Ellis was born in 1870 in Otago – the daughter of Stephen Ellis, a farmer and Catherine McLean McNaughton. (See 143 Catherine Ellis)

When she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family at Sandymount on the Otago Peninsula.

She married Daniel Georgeson, a baker, at her sister’s home in South Dunedin in 1907 and they had one daughter.

Daniel died in 1954 and Janet died the following year on 24 September, they were both cremated and their ashes were scattered.
