Charlotte/Lottie Eleanor Nayler Laurie was born in 1864 in New Zealand – the daughter of George Nayler Woods Laurie and Elizabeth Louisa Heyland.
She married James Park Smith, a shipping clerk, on 26 December 1888 at her aunt’s home in Napier.
When Charlotte signed the suffrage petition they were living in Caversham, Dunedin near her sister in law Margaret. (See 120 M A Laurie)
They later moved to Auckland were James died in 1918, he is buried in the Purewa Cemetery.
Charlotte remarried the following year to widower and grocer Alfred Cucksey. She died in Auckland on 26 July 1932 and is buried with Alfred in the Purewa Cemetery.
