Letitia Burk was born on 26 July 1858 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia – the daughter of William Burk, a master mariner, and Annie Rose. (See 151 Annie Burk)
She came to New Zealand with her family in the early 1870s and they settled in Southland.
Letitia married George Lindsay in 1881 and they had six children, three who died in infancy or childhood.
When Letitia signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Harbour Tce, Dunedin.
In 1914 George died after falling from a ladder at work.
Letitia died at her home on 1 July 1938, she is buried in the family grave in the Green Island Cemetery.
