Margaret Brydone was born on 29 September 1869 the daughter of Walter Stewart Brydone, a farmer’s son, and Isabella McKenzie. (See 108 I Brydone)
She emigrated to New Zealand with her family in the 1880s and they settled in Dunedin.
When Margaret signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Havelock St, Mornington working as a shop assistant.
She married Hector James Baxter, a farmer, on 6 October 1898 at Dunedin. They had three children and lived at Woodslee Downs near Wyndham in Southland.
Margaret died on 6 September 1902 at the age of 32, she is buried in the Wyndham Cemetery.
Hector re-married, he died in 1937 and is buried in the Waimate Cemetery.
