Margaret Wood was born in 1869 in New Zealand – the daughter of Alexander Wood, an engineer, and Helen Watherston.
When she signed the suffrage petition Margaret was living in Arthur St, Dunedin. Her sister Agnes also signed

Margaret did not marry, she died on 23 December 1951 and is buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
