The 1893 electoral roll confirms Forth St Linden Chalmers elect.
This looks very similar to the signature of Maggie Love, Fourth Street Linden, Roslyn, who signed sheet 114.
Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Maggie Hindle Graham Love was born on 17 April 1871 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland – the daughter of Johnston Love, a sailor, and Jane Eaglesham. (See 114 Jane Love)
She emigrated to Canterbury in 1876 with her mother and five siblings on the Jessie Osborne. Her father possibly worked his passage around this time.
The family settled in Dunedin and when Maggie signed the suffrage petition, they were living in Forth St, Linden, Roslyn and she was working as a weaver.
She married Donald Murray, a blacksmith, in 1895 at her sister’s home in Christchurch and they had three children.
The family lived in Christchurch and Maggie died there on 10 June 1947.
Donald died the following year, they are buried together in the Sydenham Cemetery.
