Margaret Warnock was born in 1875 in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of Alexander Warnock, a ploughman, and Annie Carrick.

She emigrated to Otago with her parents and brother in 1879 on the Taranaki

When she signed the petition she was living on Cannongate Street with her family. Her mother Annie also signed the petition.

Margaret did not marry. She died on 7 January 1916 at Dunedin and is buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
