Margaret Fergusson was born on 3 February 1858 in Maybole, Ayrshire – the daughter of George Fergusson, a weaver, and Sarah Hannah Graham. (See 93 Mrs Fergusson)
She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1874 on the Timaru and they settled in Dunedin.
Margaret married William Andrew on 4 November 1879 at her home in New Street.
They had 11 children, two who died in infancy, and when Margaret signed the suffrage petition they were living in Cumberland Street.
Margaret died shortly after the birth of her last child, Marion, on 14 September 1902.
William died in 1917 – they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
