Margaret was born in New Zealand in 1865 – the daughter of Richard Connell, a boilermaker, and Margaret McQueen. (See 107 Margaret Connell)
Margaret signed the 1892 suffrage petition while living in Castle St, Dunedin but was in Queenstown with her mother when she signed the 1893 petition.
She married Robert Hill Wellesley, an engine driver, on 9 February 1905 in Dunedin and they had one son.
In the 1920s they moved to Auckland where Robert died in 1934.
Margaret died on 2 August 1939 at Auckland Hospital, she is buried with Robert in the Waikumete Cemetery.
