Mary Anne Cain was born about 1869 in New Zealand – the daughter of Michael and Catherine Cain. (See 247 Catherine Cain)
She married miner, James Kemp Eriksen in 1890 and they had four children.
Mary signed the suffrage petition in Greymouth. In 1896 James died in a logging accident at Lake Brunner and in 1925 Mary moved to Wellington to be closer to her daughters.
She died soon after her arrival on 19 August – she is buried with James in the Karori Cemetery.
