Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Mary Inglis was born about 1868 in St Louis, Missouri, USA – the daughter of Robert Inglis, a gardener, and Agnes Campbell both natives of Scotland. (See 128 Agnes Inglis)
Her parents brought the family back to Scotland in the 1870s and, in 1874, the family emigrated to Otago on the Invercargill.
They settled in Port Molyneux where Mary signed the suffrage petition.
Mary did not marry and sometime after her father’s death in 1906 she moved to Dunedin where she lived with her sister Jessie. (See 128 Jessie A Inglis)
Mary died on 3 March 1944 – she is buried with her sister in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
