Mary Ann Richardson was born in 1881 in Southland – the daughter of Robert Richardson and Mary Ann Conlan. (See 123 Mary Ann Richardson)
When Mary signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Chatton, north of Gore.
She married Joseph Hall Nelson, a carter, in 1899 and they had three daughters.
Joseph died at Pukerau in 1917 and Mary died on 17 December 1939 in Dunedin – they are buried together in the Gore Cemetery.
