Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Kate/Catherine McKersey was born in 1872 in London – the daughter of Thomas McKersey, an iron dresser, and Ellen McCarthy. (See 144 Mrs McKersey)

She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1874 on the Allahabad and they settled in Dunedin.

When Catherine signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in No. 1 Road, Opoho.

She married Charles Henry Moir, a machinist, in 1897 and they had three daughters.

They moved to Christchurch where Charles died in 1944 and Catherine died on 10 March 1951 – they are buried together in the Ruru Lawn Cemetery.
