Margaret Ellen/Nellie Anderson was born in 1871 in New Zealand – the daughter or George Anderson, a farmer, and Jessie Dow. (See 143 Jessie Anderson)

When she signed the suffrage petition Nellie was living with her family in Broad Bay on the Otago Peninsula.

She married Arthur Harrop, a clerk, in 1899 and they had two children.

The family lived in Maori Hill, Dunedin where Nellie died on 29 September 1942.

Arthur died in 1949 - they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
