Rosina [aka Rossina] Lemon was born Rosina Margaret Jewett about 1865 in St Heliers, Jersey, Channel Islands. She was the daughter of William Thomas Jewett, a shoemaker from Canada, and Margaret. The Jewett family arrived in Otago from London in February 1874 on the Carnatic, when Rosina was eight years old. The signatures of Rosina’s sister, Annie, and their mother, Margaret, appear on the same petition sheet. In 1885 Rosina married Paul Lemon, a solicitor. Rosina and Paul had four children: Margaret, Anthony, Paul and John. Rosina died in Dunedin on 14 October 1938.
