A biography of Stella May Henderson (1871 - 1962) appears in the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography.
Two of Stella's sisters also signed the petition: Alice and Christina. Another sister, Elizabeth Reid Henderson, was too young to sign the 1893 petition but in 1933 – under her married name, Elizabeth McCombs – she would become New Zealand's first woman MP.
