Agnes Dalziel (nee Wright) Wright, (yes that's right) was born 3 Jan 1837 in Glasgow, Scotland, the 3rd of 12 children to William Wright and Agnes (nee McIntosh) Wright. She married Ronald Little Wright born 6 Sep 1837 in Glasgow, on 3 Oct 1856 at Parson St Independant Church, Glasgow by Banns. Ronald was an Ironturner/Engineer Journeyman. On the 1841 Census, she was living, aged four, at Albion St, Glasgow with her family. On the 1861 Census she was living at 50 Commerce St, Glasgow aged 24, and was a Cottonmill Worker. It seems that her first daughter, who was born Nov 1856, soon after her marriage, was left in Scotland, along with her husband, and Agnes Dalziel Wright left for Port Chalmers, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand in 1863, alone on the "Ben Lomond" She resided variously at, firstly Great George St, Union St, then 20 Broughton St, Sth Dunedin, working as a seamstress. Interestingly, the daughter she left behind in Scotland, came to Dunedin in 1875 aged 18, on the ship "Invercargill" Sadly she died on 15 Feb 1886 of Chronic Nephritis in Dunedin aged 29. Agnes Dalziel Wright acquired two other daughters in Dunedin, fathers unknown, Jane Drysdale Wright and Jessie Moir Wright. Jessie became my grandmother. Agnes Dalziel Wright and two daughters, Agnes Little Wright and Jane Dalziel Wright are all buried in the Sth Dunedin Cemetery. Jessie married Joseph Prestidge and resided in Canterbury.
