Biography contributed by Katherine Blakely

Emma Marshall was born about 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of Elizabeth Marshall. (See 48 Elizabeth Vantile)

Emma had a daughter in 1890 and she married Frederick James Attfield, a butcher, in 1892.

They had a daughter the following year and later adopted a son.

When Emma signed the suffrage petition she was living in Frederick St, Dunedin.

The family moved to Palmerston North about 1899 and Emma died there on 21 July 1936.

Frederick died in 1945, they are buried together in the Palmerston North Cemetery.
