Pākewa, also known as Paekawa, signed Te Tiriti at Port Nicholson on 29 April 1840. She was a wahine rangatira of Te Āti Awa.

Her parents may have been Ngākoro and Te Hurupoki (of Ngāti Ruanui). She married Rāwiri Nukaiahu and they migrated from Taranaki to Waikanae around the 1830s. Descendants say that Pākewa and Rāwiri had eight children, including two daughters named Mere and Pairoke. Their daughter Pairoke married a settler, William Jenkins.

Does anyone have info on Edward HOPKINSON - what he did etc..
I am trying to find for sure if he had a son named

Can't find a birth for Edward Charles Hopkinson anywhere - want to confirm who were his parents? Looking for a descendant of his and his first wife Ellen Hardgrave.
Wanting to trace his tangata whenus roots.

I descend down from Paeroke and William through their daughter Erena Ellen Browne (Jenkins). Erena and William Browne had Ellen Selina Milson (Browne), who Married Jesse Milson and had a daughter, Mary Marion Ruth Milson who is my great grandmother.
Im looking for more information on our lineage.

I think I’m also a descendant of Puhara Jones but I have family tree that says she married Edward Freeman (b1809 d13.13.1874) on 11.9.1848 St Luke’s, Bell Block.

In your comment about Paeroki , you have spelt her name Pairoke which is incorrect . The correct spelling is Paeroki and she was my 3rd Grandmother. She married William Jenkins in 1840 and died after giving birth to her 9th child Sept 14th 1853. It is said that she is buried at Te Uruhi but we can't find any record of her burial plot.

Wikitoria Apahuna was my ancestor. She must have married twice because she also married Te Rerenga and had four children, Ihaia Potikitoa, Ema Freeman, Temu and Puhara Jones (my direct ancestor). Was anyone aware that Wikitoria married Tuterapouri and Te Rerenga - any help would be welcome - thank you

Kia ora whanau, William Jenkins was my grandfathers, grandfather. I am looking for any whanau of mine that descend from the 8 children Pairoke and Jenkins had. I have been given pictures of Jenkins by my grandfather. I have been told that I am Danish/Maori, wondering if any of the 8 tamariki they had went on to have children with a danish man, I have heard stories that he had long blond hair that went down to his waist, local maori thought he was crazy as he used to ride horses bareback and naked along the beach.
