Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Matilda Lind was born in Glasgow, Scotland about 1856 – the daughter of Samuel Lind, a hand loom weaver, and Elizabeth Thomson. (See 55 Mrs Lind)

Matilda emigrated to Otago with her family on the Strathfieldsaye in 1858 and they settled in Dunedin.

She married Charles Jacobson, a lighterman from Sweden, in 1875 and they had four children.

When Matilda signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Wickliffe Tce, Port Chalmers near Dunedin.

Charles died in 1919 and Matilda died on 28 June 1919, they are buried together in the Port Chalmers Cemetery.

Hi Jane
The only woman with the surname of Jacobson listed at Port Chalmers on the 1893 electoral roll is Matilda Jacobson, Wickliffe Terrace, Port Chalmers.
I suspect the 'C' might be from her husband's name in this instance.
The only C Jacobson on the 1893 roll is Caroline Charlotte Jacobson, Jessie Street, Wellington.
