Pona Marunui

Buried beside a peaceful moat outside the ramparts of the town of Ypres (Ieper) are the remains of 10 members of the New Zealand Maori (Pioneer) Battalion. The oldest of these men was Private Pona Marunui, a shearer from Murupara in Bay of Plenty.
