Kate Dickson Kirk was born on 11 September 1866 at Castle St, Dunedin – the daughter of David Kirk, an expressman, and Catherine/Kate Dickson.
When she signed the suffrage petition Kate was living with her widowed mother in Cumberland St, Dunedin. She married Albert George Jorgensen, a law clerk, in 1899. They had four daughters before Kate died on 18 December 1907 in Wellington.
Albert died in 1951 and they are buried together in the Karori Cemetery, Wellington.
