HMNZS Leander in the Pacific

HMNZS Leander in the Pacific

HMNZS Leander camouflaged for Pacific service, circa 1942. Note the lattice tower in front of the funnel. New Zealand set up the Radio Development Laboratory which worked with the Post Office, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research and Canterbury University College to develop radars. By mid-1940 the first sets of ship-warning radars were aboard Achilles and Monowai.
