Sutton railway station in Cental Otago. Etched into the timber weatherboards of the station are the names and initials of soldiers from the area who served in the First World War, carved as they left for the front. Among these are the initials of Arthur Charles Peat, a member of the Otago Infantry Battalion, who left Sutton in late 1914 with other local men. Arthur never returned to Sutton. He was killed in action at Gallipoli in August 1915.
