Conscientious objector Thomas Moynihan being physically forced to wear uniform and march at the Whanganui detention barracks in early 1918. The mistreatment of imprisoned objectors at Whanganui soon became a further embarrassment to the government, compounding the damning evidence of the handling of the 14 in England and France.
