Harriet Chaplain Shorland was born in 1862 in Auckland – the daughter of John Shorland, a carpenter, and Mary Elizabeth Olive. (See 127 M E Shorland)
Harriet signed the suffrage petition in Gore where she appears to have been visiting her sister Georgina (See 127 G E Abernethy) accompanied by her mother.
She died not marry and she died in Auckland on 13 April 1945 – she is buried with her parents in the Symonds Street Cemetery.
