We left the tail of the bank Glasgow in February 1959, the voyage was wonderful to me, sadly it took my husband sometime to get his sea legs. We sunbathed on sunny days and danced to the hits of our era most evenings, Nat King Cole etc, the ship would pitch and toss adding new dance steps. She broke down in the middle of the ocean, we were told it was a jammed rudder, went round in giant circles for some time, no one worried. made friends with some crew members and were invited to dinner on her last trip back to NZ. Loved every minute. We disembarked March 12th.
My mother-in-law Sarah Cowan from Belfast left Glasgow bound for Wellington Oct 1958 on TSS Captain Cook. Married a Kiwi had 2 sons, worked at the Ice Cream factory.
