I have vivid memories of the voyage to New Zealand departing Glasgow on 15 October 1957 and disembarking in Wellington on 21 November 1957. My mother, sister and I were in a 6 berth cabin with 3 other women and my father was in a 6 berth cabin with 5 other men. I remember having school lessons on board ship, lifeboat drills and the crossing the equator ceremony. I still have the certificate and photos from this time. I was 8 years old at the time and remember a very long bus trip from Wellington to Matamata where we were placed in a Transit Camp for a week until my father secured accommodation elsewhere.
I arrived 1st september 1952 in the Captain Hobson on her first voyage as an emmigranr ship. Along with my sister, mother and father we then went on to Christchurch.
As a Kiwi i would still like to obtain a passenger list for that particular voyage.
