Lahana Military Cemetery


Lahana Military Cemetery is situated 56 km north-east of Salonika (Thessaloniki). It contains 279 British and Commonwealth burials from the Salonika campaign, including Westport-born journalist John Egan, who died of wounds on 8 December 1916 while serving with the Cameron Highlanders in the Struma Valley. He was one of a number of New Zealanders who served in the British imperial forces at Salonika.
