Wounded Scottish soldiers

Wounded Scottish soldiers

Lightly wounded Scottish soldiers being transported by mule to a dressing station during the Salonika campaign, 1918. Over the course of the three-year campaign, the British Salonika Force (BSF) suffered a total of 28,100 casualties, including 8,400 deaths. Malaria was a huge problem for the BSF, and disease was responsible for half of the expeditionary force's total deaths.
