This telegram was sent by a New Zealand soldier in Egypt to his family in Ōtāhuhu, Auckland, in December 1916. The message - 'Merry Xmas Cyril' - may have been from Cyril Walker Lowe, who was serving with the 1st New Zealand Machine Gun Squadron in the Middle East.
