The British army in the field – including the New Zealand Expeditionary Force and other national forces – was served by a vast network of supply and administrative units.

These units ensured that the soldiers were fed, clothed, and supplied with all the necessaries of warfare. They plugged directly into wider supply chains, acting as a conduit between the British military system and New Zealand units.
